Doucette and Zappa cite irreconcilable differences in divorce papers

It was a match made in heaven and with a name like Moon Unit Zappa, how could it be anything but a heavenly match? Quite easily apparently.

E! Online confirmed Wednesday that Zappa has filed divorce papers against her husband, Paul Doucette, Matchbox 20 guitarist after nine and a half years of marriage. Papers were filed with the Los Angeles Superior court on December 27. The filing also has requested that the court terminate Doucette’s right to spousal support. The reason for the split has been listed as irreconcilable differences.

Who can forget the little tike of late rocker Frank Zappa and the rather unique name that had been bestowed on the pink bundle after she was born? Moon Unit is the eldest daughter of Zappa and is an artist and singer-actress. Her siblings include Dweezil, Ahmet and Diva.

Zappa grew up under the watchful eye of the public and met and married the guitarist from Matchbox twenty over nine years ago on June 1, 2002. They have a daughter together, seven-year-old Mathilda Plum Doucette.

Zappa has had bit parts in “Grey’s Anatomy,” and “European Vacation.

Doucette is a founding member along with front man, Rob Thomas, of the popular band Matchbox 20. Doucette is also reported to be working on solo material.

The couple has requested that the media respect their privacy during “These Hard Times.”(Sorry could not resist)

Thomas has been quiet as of late preferring quiet home life to the glaring spotlight of preforming, but he will take the stage for the sake of charity

Rob Thomas last released a full-length CD called Cradlesong in 2009, and has been taking things at a much slower pace in the years since his last solo endeavor. He and the band, Matchbox Twenty have been in the studio busy trying to lay down new tracks for their latest collaboration due out sometime in 2012.

Thomas will, however step back on the stage at the Mohegan Sun Arena all to benefit a charity that is near and dear to he and his lovely wife Marisol. The creative and compassionate couple founded the non-profit charity Sidewalk Angels that supports grassroots endeavors around the United States including no-kill animal shelters and animal rescues. The charity also benefits childhood health and helps in the fight against childhood homelessness.

The concert is the first in a three-part concert series for the charity. The other two concerts will be held at Atlantic City’s Borgata Casino.

Thomas is going for a more up close and personal experience with these concerts; it would appear in an effort not only to benefit concertgoers but to also benefit himself.

'It's a chance for me, as a songwriter, to really highlight lyric and melody and to create different versions of songs that I've been playing for years,' says Thomas."

When can fans expect Thomas to release another solo effort? So far that is not something that Thomas is not going to commit to. One can only hope that it will not be a long time coming. The fans seem to be more than ready for more from the musical poet. In the meantime, try to catch one of his upcoming concerts and support a wonderful charity at the same time.
